Big Sky Sport Psychology Retreat 2017
Mackenzie and Sharon are off to their annual sport psychology meeting in Big Sky, Montana.
The purpose of this three-day seminar is to bring together psychologists and mental health providers who practice in NCAA Division I/II/III collegiate athletic settings, professional teams and elite/Olympic athletic programs in providing psychological health care for athletes.
This year, Sharon is presenting on the topic of “Sexualization and Self-Objectification of Athletes.” She will address the gender differences in reaction to the sexualization of athletes and the mental health issues magnified by self-objectification. She will use the recent Harvard Women’s Soccer team experience as an example of how prevalent this issue is amongst college athletes.
