Executive Coaching Tip: Take That Vacation!
Greetings from AWP’s Executive Coaching team! We hope you are taking advantage of the warm weather by spending time refueling with family and friends outdoors. We know many of you work in highly intensive environments – be sure to use your well-earned vacation time!
In addition to bringing opportunities to connect with passions and interests outside of work, summer can offer the time and space to evaluate work satisfaction and fulfillment. Assessing this does not have to be a daunting or overwhelming task. We often help our clients evaluate the degree to which their work is in line with their overall career goals and values by exploring a series of basic questions. Some include:
-
- What are your career interests and values? How well do these interests and values fit in your current position and company?
What would you like to be doing in 6 months? 12 months? Is there a clear path in your current role that brings you closer to your ideal position?
What are your personal career development goals? Are these well supported by your company? If not, can you assert your needs to your manager?
Time away from work can offer the perspective required to reflect on your level of work satisfaction. We encourage you to take time for yourself – and don’t hesitate to reach out if we can be of help as you consider how satisfied and fulfilled you are in your current position.
