Eating Disorder Nutrition Counseling
Our team of highly qualified and experienced registered dietitians offer nutrition therapy to help patients overcome many types of disordered eating, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, overeating and emotional eating. We work with children, adolescents and adults in a supportive, encouraging and non-judgmental way. The goal of treatment is to help stabilize your medical condition, normalize your food intake, create healthier eating behaviors and develop a healthy relationship with food.
We work closely with your other providers – mental health clinicians, primary care physicians and other health care providers who may be part of your treatment team. We believe that team collaboration is key to healing your relationship to food.
The initial individual nutrition therapy assessment session lasts 60 minutes. This session includes a comprehensive assessment of eating patterns, habits, and behaviors, medical history, exercise patterns, body image concerns, supplement use, personal goals, and other relevant information. Together, we will develop a plan to support your recovery and rebuild a positive relationship with food and your body.
Follow-up visits may be weekly or less frequent and last about 45 minutes, depending on a patient’s individual needs.
