Susan E. Margolis, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, Eating Disorder Specialist
Growing up in a suburb of Boston, Susie was fascinated by her mother’s work as a therapist but also intrigued by the sciences because of her dad’s work as an electrical engineer. She combined both innate gifts to pursue a career in clinical psychology. A dancer through college, she was drawn to working with athletes and eating disorders because of the prevalence of eating issues in the performing arts and athletics.
Susie takes a personal approach to her work and has helped a range of clients in diverse settings, from the educational system to the juvenile courts, psychiatric hospitals and university counseling centers. With specialized training in treating eating disorders, depression, anxiety and relationship issues, she is efficient and goal-oriented in her approach. Susie views therapy as a collaborative process in which clients are encouraged to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental setting.
Prior to joining Amplify Wellness + Performance, Susie worked and trained at the counseling centers at Tufts University in Somerville, Massachusetts, Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, and James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She also trained at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Revere High School, and the Chelsea Juvenile Court Clinic in Massachusetts.
Susie earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Suffolk University, where she researched acceptance based behavioral interventions, and received her bachelor’s from Simmons College. Outside the office, she enjoys the Boston Ballet, running, and playing with her young son.
